Telecom Equipment Repair in Kenya

Telecommunications operators and integrators depend on boards that are hard to replace quickly. Sinsal repairs telecom electronics at the component level from its Nairobi laboratory, so a failed card or power module does not mean a long wait for imported spares.

Service Overview

Telecom hardware tends to be long-lived and tightly specified. Line cards, power rectifiers, interface boards and radio-related electronics stay in service well after the vendor has moved on, and a failed unit can hold up a site. Repairing the board is frequently the quickest route back to service when spares are scarce or the model is discontinued.

Sinsal assesses and repairs the electronics of this equipment. It does not provide network design, field installation or radio-licence services, and it is not a manufacturer service centre. Scope is confirmed per device at assessment.

Equipment We Work On

  • Power rectifier and DC power-system modules
  • Line-card, interface and transmission boards
  • Media converters and optical-networking electronics
  • Microwave and radio-related power and control electronics
  • Telecom routers and aggregation switches
  • Site monitoring and control boards

Typical Failures

  • Power modules that shut down or no longer regulate their output
  • Interface boards that no longer pass traffic on a port
  • Damage from lightning, surge and unstable grid supply
  • Overheated boards from failed cooling in enclosed sites
  • Corrosion on boards in humid or coastal sites
  • Units that no longer have vendor support or spares

Diagnostic Process

  1. 01Record of the unit, firmware where known and the failure history
  2. 02Visual and microscope inspection, with attention to surge damage
  3. 03Bench power-up and rail analysis on the affected board
  4. 04Oscilloscope and thermal checks on power and interface stages
  5. 05Repairability decision and parts feasibility

Repair Process

  1. 01Replacement of failed power, protection and interface components
  2. 02Repair of burnt traces, pads and connectors at the damage site
  3. 03Cleaning and inspection of corroded areas where the board is repairable
  4. 04Documentation of what was replaced for your maintenance records

Testing and Validation

  • Rail and signal verification against expected readings
  • Interface checks on the repaired ports where a test setup is practical
  • Loaded and extended run to confirm the repair is stable

What You May Receive

Diagnostic findings, Repair record, Post-repair verification result.

Warranty

Completed repairs are accompanied by warranty documentation. The cover, its term and its exclusions are written on the warranty document issued with the job, so they are agreed in writing for your equipment rather than assumed. Warranty applies to the repaired fault and the work carried out, not to unrelated failures elsewhere in the equipment.

Important Limitation

Sinsal repairs the electronics of the equipment. It does not provide network design, site installation, radio licensing or manufacturer-authorised service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

Do you repair telecom equipment that the vendor no longer supports?

Yes, where the fault can be isolated and parts can be sourced. Unsupported and discontinued equipment is one of the most common reasons organisations choose repair over replacement.

Are you an authorised service centre for any telecom vendor?

No. Sinsal is independent. Brand names are used only to describe the equipment that can be assessed, and no manufacturer relationship is implied.

Can you repair a batch of failed modules?

Yes. Batches are assessed together so that repeat faults and common causes, such as power quality at a site, can be identified.

Have Failed Telecom Modules or Boards?

Describe the equipment and the fault. Sinsal will confirm whether it is a fit for diagnostics and repair before any work begins.
